Tono is the main hops producer in all of Japan.
70 % of beer produced by Kirin Ichiban Brewery uses native Japanese hops, and the majority of all Japan’s hops come from Tono.

Hosted by Ty Burhoe, this mini documentary series features Takahashi Koji-san as a new and aspiring hops farmer who is learning from Ambe Jumpei-san. The series begins in early spring and documents the main stages of growing hops across the year up until the hops is shipped off to Kirin Beer. It is a fascinating process to witness if you like farming, or if you like beer!
